SUMMARY

The Executive Director is responsible for planning, implementing and coordinating the marketing, public relations and communication activities of the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce (DRCC).  The Executive Director is also responsible for representing the Chamber in all internal and external situations. Deep focus on community and member relations.  She/he must be a vigilant ambassador for the Chamber in Local, Regional and Statewide activities and discussion surrounding economic development.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct and support the activities of the Chamber office staff and volunteers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree from accredited four-year college or university desired. Minimum of three years’ experience in business management required. Experience working for a non-profit organization is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Direct and support the ongoing activities of the Damariscotta Region Chamber Board of Directors.
  2. Supervisory responsibilities of the office staff and volunteers include interviewing, hiring and training new employees; scheduling, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  3. Promote the interests of members of the DRCC in our local community, regionally and statewide.
  4. Identify and solicit new DRCC members. Provide personal outreach to existing members.
  5. Coordinate events, including but not limited to, Annual Celebration, Pumpkinfest Parking, Art Tour.
  6. Oversee all aspects of the annual Chamber Guide, including layout, articles, advertisements, photography, printing, distribution, etc.
  7. Oversee writing and publication of weekly E-Newsletter
  8. Work with and provide support to Chamber Committees (Membership, Events, Finance).
  9. Serve as an administrative liaison to town, county and state government as appropriate.
  10. Work with the Treasurer, Finance Committee and the Board in the development and on-going monitoring of the DRCC’s annual budget.
  11. Work closely with the Board to identify potential new Board members.
  12. Work closely with the Board to implement public relations programs that advance the mission and goals of the organization to maximize Chamber visibility in the community.
  13. Design, write and produce copy and layout for support materials such as press releases, advertisements, brochures, charts, signs, speeches, etc.
  14. Oversee management and updates to the Chamber website.
  15. Demonstrate fluent computer skills including desktop publishing, bookkeeping, MS Word, MS Excel, Constant Contact, social media, and email.
  16. Promote the Chamber through excellent community relations and good communication with the public and press.
  17. Represent the Chamber in dealing with external vendors as well as the general public.
  18. Communication/Interpersonal Skills

    – Demonstrate an instinct for diplomacy and ability to relate to all constituencies.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.  Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints from customers, agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information to the Board, members, public groups, and other constituents.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

  2. Participate in the development and approval of the annual operating budget and long-term expenditure plan.

Clearly articulate and communicate the Mission/Vision of the organization to members, business owners and to the general public.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

This is a full-time, year-round position. Salary is commensurate with experience.

  • Base salary range is $55,000 – $65,000 annually.

Cell Phone Stipend – a monthly stipend will be offered to cover business use of personal cell phone. Paid as a taxable stipend.

Milage Stipend – a monthly stipend will be offered to cover milage on personal vehicle for Chamber related travel.

Paid Time Off (PTO)

  • 15 days per year of vacation time, accrued monthly, rollover and cap per policy
  • 5 days sick leave per year
  • 2 floating holidays per year
  • Federal holidays observed by Chamber policy

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, event-driven with evenings and weekend hours as needed. Remote work up to 1-2 days per week, contingent on operational needs.
