Round Pond July 4th Parade

The small lobster village of Round Pond, located in the town of Bristol, is home to the most eccentric, unorganized 4th of July parade in Maine!  It always starts at Noon on July 4th and anyone can show up and participate either by decorating a car, float, or walking in costume. You may see over-the-top floats and participants dressed like leaders of our country or famous actors and actresses. If you’re looking for a wicked twisted version of good old-fashioned Americana where people aren’t concerned about ‘sacred cows’, join in or watch the anything goes parade where there’s lots of politics and everyone gets made fun of. Come celebrate America’s birthday in the most unusual way.

A note from the very loose local “organizers” of this un-official event:
The Round Pond parade is always looking for participants to add to the fun – just show up and hop in. Not a lot of rules involved but be sure to bring your sense of humor. Parade starts from Masters Machine (500 Lower Round Pond Rd, Bristol, ME) at noon so jump into the line up there or if you are walking you can also join in at the RP post office or anywhere you want!  The narrow side roads off Rte 32 will start to clog up so arrive plenty early, bring some snacks/water, and try not to park like a moron.
